Nestlé: Introducing New Technologies to Extract Biofuels from Waste Coffee Raw Materials

Sinochem New Network News The Mexican Reform reported on February 22 that Nestlé Mexico will extract biofuels from coffee raw materials. The company has invested $150 million in 2010 to expand its manufacturing operations in Mexico's Toluca state and will make the company a pioneer in the extraction of biofuels from discarded coffee ingredients. The 35 million U.S. dollars in investments are used for the extraction and production of biofuels.

According to the newspaper, coffee husks and other waste materials will be processed into biofuels at a factory invested by Nestlé Mexico. This will be the world's largest instant coffee manufacturer. Nestlé Mexican company stated that the company's development strategy is not only to increase the added value of its products, but also to extract and produce biofuels at the same time. This is the only company in Mexico that uses bio-fuel materials for the production of biofuels. With the expansion of the factory scale, it will not only increase the production of coffee production, meet Mexico's domestic and international demand, but also have enough raw materials processed into biofuels. The technology was introduced from Switzerland; 100% of the coffee waste can be used.
