Solar waterfall designed for the 2016 Olympic Games

This is a huge solar waterfall, 105 meters above sea level. It was designed by Swiss architect RAFAA for the 2016 Olympic Games. It was named Sun City Tower. The building is equipped with solar panels. Solar water pumps are on top of the day to pump the seawater. At the top, power can be supplied at night by the energy generated by the water level drop turbine rotation.

In some cases, the waterfall tower can be transformed into a city waterfall, as the designer calls the “natural force logo.” RAFAA hopes to build an open-air theater, auditorium, canteen and other shops to fill the gaps. The solar tower city even includes bungee jumping and "top-walking glass sky."

“This project is asking how to build it into a classic landmark, how to build it will be reconsidered, but it is an iconic building. This project is to express a social message, a future-oriented information, therefore, It is an internally representative attitude and our project is not just a traditional architectural concept, it is also an urban machine that can simultaneously provide energy to Rio de Janeiro cities and enable citizens to use natural resources.
