From January to July 2010, Thailandâ€™s textile exports totaled US$4.257 billion, an increase of 16.2% year-on-year. The Taihua Farmers Research Center believes that there is still room for expansion of Thailand's textile exports for the rest of 2010. It is expected that the total value of textile exports in 2010 will reach US$7.2 billion, up 12% year-on-year. The main supporting factors are not only the increase of imports by trading partners, but also benefit from tariff reduction measures in the free trade zone, but Thai textile exporters still have to be cautious in dealing with various risk factors, including: (1) Major competitors, especially the world The textile exporting countries China and ASEAN countries compete; (2) the United States, the European Union and Japan and other textile-importing countries establish production bases in all regions of the world; (3) The emerging labour shortage problem will adversely affect the growth of Thai textile exports.

The Taihua Farmers Research Center believes that in order to cope with the above problems, the Thai textile industry should make adjustments to improve its competitiveness, such as improving production quality to better meet customer needs, improve marketing strategies, and explore potential new markets such as ASEAN and the Middle East. It is the worldâ€™s major clothing production base and can be an important export market for Thai textiles.
