Haier IFA exhibits transistor ice wine cabinet magnetic refrigeration technology leading the world

IFA2015 ended in Berlin, Germany, Haier company launched an ultra-quiet wine cabinet refrigerator, which uses magnetic refrigeration technology instead of the compressor to minimize the noise decibel.

In "American Life," Toby Liszt tries to write a piece of music using the mix of household appliances, including toasters, refrigerators, and more. Taking a refrigerator as an example, the noise of the refrigerator comes from a compressor that controls condensation and vaporization of the refrigerant inside the refrigerator, and the refrigerant flows in the coil and absorbs heat to cool. However, the new product launched by Haier, the transistor wine cabinet, does not emit noise because the refrigeration system of the refrigerator innovatively uses magnetic force instead of compressor for cooling.

This innovative refrigeration technology is also being explored by companies such as General Electric (GE), which not only minimizes noise, but also requires no refrigerant and is more energy efficient. Haier's wine cabinet uses water and carbon dioxide instead of compressor operation. But unlike compressors, they use only magnetic force – it works by using a special metal that heats up in a magnetic field and cools down in the absence of a magnetic field. The Haier freezer has only one moving part, which means it won't vibrate. The temperature of Haier wine cabinet can reach zero fluctuation and maintain at a fixed temperature. Haier said that such a design is very beneficial for the storage of various types of wine. In addition, the noise of the refrigerator is only 30 decibels, which is the same as the number of decibels in the library. In comparison, the latest dishwasher noise has reached 40 to 50 decibels.
The Haier wine cabinet was presented for the first time at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and was exhibited at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (IFA) in Berlin, Germany. Haier wine cabinets will start selling in 2016, but the price is still undetermined. Haier hopes to apply the technology to large household appliances. Haier's high-end brand Casa Di also presented a low-oil compressor refrigerator at the IFA exhibition. Although the compressor is still used, the temperature of the refrigerator is more constant.

Phononic is also conducting research on similar household appliances. The company uses a transistor thermoelectric chiller to separate cold air and hot gases into different compartments. This type of technology has already begun to be used in commercial production and can be used in laboratories and medical equipment.
