Bosch Engineering, a subsidiary of Bosch in Germany, has developed a control unit for the use of fuel cells and is already in the "12th Hydrogen Fuel Cell Exhibition" (Tokyo Ariake International Convention and Exhibition Center, March 2-4, 2016). On display (Figure). This control unit is suitable for use in fuel cell-driven tractors, construction locomotives, ships and generators. This is based on Bosch's automotive products and is planned for volume production in 2016.

This development is to control the temperature and hydrogen flow rate in the fuel cell. The hardware that uses Bosch's automotive control unit for mass production of passenger cars and Bosch also develop software for fuel cell vehicles. Bosch Engineering has produced fuel cell control units for tractors and construction locomotives.

The development products support the "ISO26262" standard for automotive functional safety and "ISO16750" for automotive components. It also has shielding against external electromagnetic waves. Fault diagnosis and maintenance can be performed through wireless communication such as Bluetooth and GSM (2nd generation mobile communication). Supports a temperature range of -40 to 85°C. Durable life of more than 10 years. Dimensions are 168 x 140 x 49 mm thick and weigh 270g.
