Double Diaphragm Pumps If repair or inspection is required, follow these steps: 1 Relieve all pressure in the pump. Be sure to disconnect the unit from the compressed air supply. 2 Remove the pump from the cart or wall bracket and remove all accessories (air inlet, paint inlet, soft suction tube). 3 Place the pump steady on the table and open the cover. Ensure paint or cleaning solution residue does not flow into the pump. 4 Carefully remove any paint or solvent residue from the diaphragm and seat. 5 Remove the guide and the suction valve ball from the pump housing. Check the ball for any residue or wear out. 6 Check seat for dust or wear. If cleaning is required, remove the base and clean the exterior of the pump body. (This is important because solvents can leak into the pump!) 7 Rotate the pump as per 5.4 - 5.6. 8 Verify that the outlet valve is flexible. (The ball must be able to rotate flexibly.) If necessary, remove the valve seat and clean the exterior of the pump body. Check the ball surface for damage and wear, if necessary, please replace. 9 Check diaphragm surface for damage. If damaged or frayed, replace the septum as follows: Turn the septum separately. When a diaphragm is released from the carrier, unscrew it. Insert a screw and a M8 nut into the hole in the carrier and tighten them. Then quickly turn the other diaphragm to the left, loosen it and remove it. 10 Inspect the interior of the pump for any paint or solvent that has penetrated. If there is infiltration, or sliding seat is damaged, we recommend that you pump back to the original repair. 11 Install the diaphragm: Caution! Screw fully into the septum, tighten, keeping them close together; otherwise the pump will not run in reverse. 12 Screw in all valves. Be sure to use a new seal ring. 13 Clean the sealing edge of the cover without any type of damage to the sealing edge. Put the cover on the pump body and pay attention to the support pin. Tighten the screws cross with a dynamometer wrench and the maximum starting torque is 10 Nm. Note: The starting torque must be observed because the starting torque plays an extremely important role in the service life of the diaphragm. 14 Turn the pump; on the other side, turn it the same way. 15 Hold the pump on the pump support. Note: The maximum starting torque of 10 Nm must also be observed. 16 Install all accessories and connectors.
