African Market Helps Sino-African Footwear Trade Development

Wang Chao, deputy head of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, introduced that since the beginning of this year, China-Africa trade has resumed growth, reaching 61.2 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of the year, an increase of 65% year-on-year.

Wang Chao said that China-Africa economic and trade cooperation has flourished in recent years. From 2000 to 2008, China-Africa trade grew by an average of 33.6% annually, and exceeded US$100 billion for the first time in 2008; in 2009, China became Africa’s largest trading partner. China-Africa economic and trade cooperation has strong complementarity. Africa is a continent with a large population and great potential for development. China has a vast market, rich experience in development, and the funds and technology that are urgently needed by African countries.

Traditional industries have greater room for survival and development in Africa. Africa has abundant resources and great market potential, but the industrial economy is relatively backward. China's small and medium-sized enterprises have strong processing and manufacturing capabilities and are highly complementary to each other. Labor-intensive enterprises such as shoes , garments and handicrafts have strong potential for survival and development in Africa. Such as Zhejiang Taizhou business owner Li Chuanfa invested in Egypt in 2002 to establish the Egyptian brothers Footwear Company, now occupying more than 50% of Egypt's footwear market.
