Wenzhou makes every effort to build a national footwear export base

Recently, the Wenzhou Municipal Government signed a cooperation agreement with the China Light Industry Arts & Crafts Import & Export Chamber of Commerce to build a "Chinese footwear export base." Zhao Yide, deputy secretary of the Wenzhou Municipal Party Committee and mayor, and Wang Zhongqi, chairman of the China Light Industry Arts & Crafts Import & Export Chamber of Commerce, unveiled the book.
Wenzhou is one of the birthplaces of the Chinese shoe leather industry. In the past 20 years, especially in the reform and opening up period, the Wenzhou shoe leather industry has evolved from a quality industry to a branding industry and gradually formed a regional industrial cluster with independent brands, perfect industrial facilities, and a well-developed marketing network. The independent brands accounted for half of China's shoe industry, and Wenzhou became One of the most competitive shoe leather industries and export bases in China. In 2010, the Wenzhou shoe leather industry completed a total industrial output value of 78.0 billion yuan, and achieved 675 million pairs of footwear exports. The products are sold to 150 countries and regions in the world, and footwear exports account for three-fifths of the province's strength.

According to the agreement, the Chamber of Commerce will provide Wenzhou shoe companies with information on the production, trade, and technology of related products at home and abroad, and organize participation in domestic and foreign exhibitions, promotional groups, and other services. Wenzhou will give full play to the radiation effects of its export base, increase the support of technology, brand, market, and information, lead the transformation and upgrading of shoe leather enterprises, expand the market, and truly make the “Chinese shoes capital” a national brand name. China's footwear export base has become a demonstration base for transformation and upgrading of foreign trade.

Meng Jianxin, member of the Standing Committee of Wenzhou Municipal Committee and Deputy Mayor, delivered a speech and the municipal government secretary Zhan Yongshu presided over the meeting. At the meeting, 60 companies including Gold Emperor, Juyi, Kangnai and Aokang were awarded the title of leading enterprises in China's footwear export bases.
