Tianjin "cloning family" is expected to add new

Since the launch of the Boer goat clone project in 2002, the cloning technology experiment in Tianjin has gone through 7 years. From the birth of the world's first embryo cloning Boer goat to the start of the somatic cloning of a high-yielding dairy cow project, Tianjin’s scientific research on animal cloning has always been persistent and has reached the peak of international cutting-edge technology.

On July 26th, the reporter learned from the Tianjin Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine that this year, while Tianjin is carrying out the somatic cloning of a high-yielding dairy cow project, it will also further promote the somatic cell Boer goat clone experiment project, and it is expected that there will be 8 to 10 more. Clone Boer goats into the "clone family" in Tianjin.

Cloning high-yielding dairy cows to start extracting ear cells has now been developed to survive

On August 6, 2007, the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government pointed out in the "Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Integration of Urban and Rural Development Strategies to Accelerate the Construction of a New Socialist Countryside" that the establishment of a cloning technology system for high-yielding dairy cows and the somatic cloning of Boer goats Make new breakthroughs.

After nearly one year of preparation, on July 3rd, 2008, the experts of Tianjin Clone High-yielding Dairy Cow Research Group selected the best dairy farm in this city – No. 14 ranch of Jialihe Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd., from 5 The extraction of skin cells from the ears of Holstein cows for embryo culture marked the official initiation of the somatic cloning of a high-yielding cow in Tianjin. On July 26, the extracted cells have been cultured and are currently being stored in cell libraries at minus 196 degrees Celsius, ready for further experiments.

"Next, we will extract the nucleus from the living cells, replace the nucleus in a normal bovine oocyte, and transplant this newly assembled cell to another cow to achieve cloning." Tianjin Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Research The director of the institute, Ding Boliang, told the Northern Network reporter that “an ordinary ox can act as a recipient to receive transplanted cells. It is reasonable to say that after a 11-month incubation period, it can give birth to high-yielding and high-quality cloned cows.”

The success rate of cloned cows is only 2%. Tianjin plans to achieve success in two to three years.

It is understood that in the field of international research, the success rate of cloning cows by somatic cells can only reach 2% to 3%. Tianjin also faces many unknown difficulties in carrying out this project. “Of course we hope that cloning technology will be successful at one time, but objectively speaking, it takes at least two to three years to fully understand the cloning technology of dairy cows,” said Ding Boliang.

At present, the somatic clone cow project in Tianjin is chaired by Dr. Liu Haijun, animal cloning expert. Dr. Liu Ling, an authoritative expert in cloning technology from the world and Dr. Liu Ling, a Chinese American scientist at the University of Texas, provides technical guidance. Both of these experts have participated in experimental work on the cloning of sheep embryos and somatic cell clones in Tianjin, and have extensive scientific research experience.

“At present, Tianjin has reached an international advanced level in the somatic cell Boer goat cloning technology. We believe that through the joint efforts of the scientific research team, we will be able to successfully complete the cloning of high-yielding dairy cows,” said Dr. Liu Ling.

Power Dispute International Dispute, Tianjin Cloning Technology is mainly used to achieve "clone food" production

In the interview, Ding Boliang told reporters that Tianjin research animal cloning technology is mainly for the realization of "clone food" production. The Boer goat clone technique was studied to allow the people of Tianjin to eat delicious lamb. The high-yielding dairy cow cloning research was conducted to allow the people to drink high-quality milk.

However, for the application of cloning technology, scientific researchers and relevant scholars from various countries around the world hold their own opinions. On June 25, the EU Parliament’s Agriculture Committee passed a draft resolution proposing to prohibit the use of animal clones for food use in the European Union. They believe that cloning technology will significantly reduce the population diversity of livestock and that the safety and nutrition of animals breeding using cloning techniques will not be guaranteed.

“Since cloning technology has been adopted by humans, the controversy has not stopped. In the face of different voices, we will continue to verify the feasibility of using cloned animals for food in experiments. The fundamental purpose of developing animal cloning technology is to have the best Species and genetic genes are preserved to ensure the reproduction of high-quality species. Therefore, the realization of cloned food production should not be a problem,” Ding Boliang told reporters.

Some experts estimate that in 2010, there will be marketed foods made from cloned animals. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration also made a point of view in January that cloned cattle, pigs, and sheep and their offspring's meat and dairy products are as reliable as those produced by traditionally cultivated animals.

In the course of carrying out scientific research, Tianjin found that Boer goats are the best sheep in the world, with fresh meat and small fishy smell. Moreover, they have strong disease resistance. The cloned Boer goats have the same properties as the goats, and they are edible. It is also healthy and nutritious. The Holstein cows selected for the cloning experiments of cows are also the cows with the largest milk production in the world. The annual average milk production of more than 1,000 Holstein dairy cows in the No. 14 Ranch of Jialihe, Tianjin Farming Group can be achieved. Achieve 8000 kg, close to the international advanced level. It is expected that dairy cows born through cloning technology can also achieve this number of milk production.

Tianjin cloning technology has gone through 7 years. The world’s first cloned sheep has been growing well.

The world’s first embryo cloning Boer goat “Tsang Sheng” has been strong, oldest and most mischievous.

In October 2002, the Boer goat clone project was officially launched, marking the beginning of Tianjin's history of cloning technology experiments.

On November 2, 2005, the world’s first cloned boer goat was born in Tianjin and was named “Tseng”.

On March 29, 2006, “Tsang Sheng” experienced an incarceration in May and produced a pair of dragon and phoenix fetus “Jinbao” and “Jinhua”. The “Jinhua” survived and is in good condition.

On April 9, 2007, the country’s first somatic cell clone, the Boer Goat, was born and named “Tianying”.

"Jin Ying," newlyweds, ready to become mother

On July 2, 2007, the second somatic cell clone of the country was born Boer Goat, named "Jinli." It and "Jin Ying" were cloned from epidermis cells that had been removed from the ear of a female parent Boer goat that died in 2003. Both of them were ewes.

Currently the youngest cloned sheep in Tianjin "Jinli"

On June 26, 2008, the “Jin Ying” who was more than one year old and a purebred Boer Goat goat “knot a knot” will receive a B-test pregnancy 40 days later and is ready to become a mother at any time.

In the breeding room of the Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, the reporter and the "Jinmen cloned sheep family" met. Because it is already a world-famous “big star”, in the face of the reporter’s shot, they do not fall in line, and some even simply put their front legs on the fence and kept posing. Staff Zhang told reporters that these cloned sheep have been healthy since they were born. They can eat 3 pounds of forage every day. The "Tianying" weight has reached 155 pounds, and the weight of other cloned sheep also exceeds 140 pounds.

According to the introduction of Director Ding Boliang, while Tianjin started the process of cloning high-yielding dairy cows from somatic cells, the new somatic cell clone of Boer goats has also begun quietly. Tianjin Science and Technology Commission has allocated 1.5 million to promote the further deepening of the Boer goat cloning technology experiment. “We will accumulate more experience in the newly launched Boer goat clone experiment and plan to successfully clone 8 to 10 goats and strive to clone the ram to fill the research gap,” said Liu Haijun, animal cloning expert.
