High yield of crop “smearing” sunscreens is immediate

Sun protection is not exclusive to humans. Human sunscreen seeks whitening, and crop sunscreen can produce high yields.

Plants, like humans, “sweat” when exposed to the sun. This is the transpiration of crops. It is the process by which water evaporates from the surface of living plants (mainly leaves) to the atmosphere as water vapor. The amount of water lost from the transpiration of plants is very large. It is estimated that 1 corn needs to consume four to five hundred pounds of water from emergence to harvest. Green plants must undergo gas exchange with the surrounding environment during photosynthesis. Therefore, the water in the plant is inevitably lost along the gradient of the water potential. Appropriate inhibition of transpiration not only reduces water consumption but also benefits plant growth. Among the water absorbed by plants, 90% of the water is lost due to transpiration, and the actual absorbed water accounts for only 3%-5%.

Just as the skin of a man in the hot sun will be injured, the crop is also hard to avoid sunburn. Therefore, in order to properly suppress transpiration and prevent crops from being sunburned, currently in the United States, Australia and Chile, a “sunscreen” developed specifically for crops is being put into testing. The main component of this plant sunscreen is iso-octyl p-methoxycinnamate and its complex calcium carbonate crystals. It is sprayed on crops and trees to block ultraviolet rays and infrared rays, and allows those who are involved in photosynthesis and help plants mature. Down, it does not affect photosynthesis, but also prevent excessive loss of plant water.

Dick Cooper, who owns a 100-acre vineyard in the Shenandoah Valley of the Sierra Nevada in the Sierra Nevada, has used the vine canopy to shade grapes, but in drought years, the evaporation of water can cause grape bunches to shrink. It's like an olive nucleus. After spraying the sunscreen on the part of the white grapes that he had been planting for the second year, he told the experts that the plant sunscreen is simply an “unused reservoir” in the drought!

Over the past few years, China has continued to suffer major droughts. This sunscreen has also been field tested in parts of China. The first round of experiments has been known, and the results show that the iso-octyl p-methoxycinnamate sunscreen has an immediate effect on improving crop yields.
