On December 8, with the first 1,000 kg of coated controlled-release fertiliser products going offline, Zhonghai Petrochemical Co., Ltd., hereinafter referred to as the pilot project of 5,000 tons of controlled-release fertilizer researched and developed by China National Chemical Industry Corporation, was successfully launched. Since then, China Sea Chemistry has mastered the international advanced controlled-release fertilizer production technology. The product of this project can improve the utilization rate of chemical fertilizers, improve the soil environment, and promote the increase of agricultural incomes and expenditures. It is a good helper for the development of high-efficiency agriculture.
This is a state-supported research achievement industrialization project, which was completed three years ago by the scientific research team of the China National Chemical Technology Development Center and the state-level research institutes.
At present, the utilization rate of fertilizers in China is far below the level of developed countries in the world. The main reason for the low fertilizer use efficiency is leaching loss, especially nitrogen fertilizer. The loss of fertilizer not only caused a waste of resources, but also caused land consolidation. The development of slow/controlled release fertilizers is an important measure adopted by various countries in the world to increase the utilization rate of fertilizers. In various kinds of slow- and controlled-release fertilizers currently being developed in China, the polymer-coated controlled-release fertilizer is controlled by nutrients to release nutrients precisely, and it is more suitable to meet the nutrient requirements during the growing period of the crop. However, high-molecular polymers that are currently used as sustained-release materials are generally difficult to be degraded or cannot be degraded, and long-term application can easily cause soil contamination.
The project uses vegetable oils and esters as the main coating materials, with low dosage, low economic cost, and no solvent required for the coating process, which achieves the effect of controlled-release fertilizers that produce no volatile solvents and does not pollute the environment. The product performance is in line with the national standards for slow-release fertilizers, and short-term crops require one-time fertilization and no top dressing, and the product can be widely applied to a variety of economic crops and field crops. According to previous demonstration experiments conducted on banana, pineapple, sugarcane, corn and other economic crops and field crops, controlled-release fertilizers can increase production by 8% to 20%, and can increase income by 150 to 700 yuan per mu.
It is reported that controlled-release fertilizer is a new type of fertilizer that can slow down or control the release rate of nutrients, and is a new technology that is preferentially promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture during the “Twelfth Five-year Plan†period.
