New California law is expected to promote the reduction of exports of plastics from Honshu

The Plastic Recycling Market Development Initiative, which began in 2000, has contributed to the promotion of the construction and development of California's plastic recycling infrastructure. Each year, California recycles about 500 million pounds of plastic beverage containers for recycling. Over 80% of them have been exported overseas for reprocessing.
