Element Six has recently introduced a new type of diamond single crystal for the PremaDia series, the PDA600S. The PDA600S is an artificial single crystal diamond specifically designed for use in the grinding field and is used in much the same way as natural single crystal diamond products such as the PDA655.

Through strict production control and subsequent processing, Element Six ensures that the performance of this new product in terms of four core parameters (crystal form, particle strength, oxidation resistance and surface chemistry) is almost identical to that of natural single crystal diamond.

(1) Irregularity and sharpness of crystal diamond single crystal are two important parameters that affect the bonding strength and cutting performance of diamond grinding wheel. Scanning electron microscopy images and computer optical imaging techniques clearly demonstrate the similarity of both PDA600S and PDA665 in particle morphology.

(II) Particle strength The grinding performance of natural diamond particles is related to the following two factors: one is the friability of individual particles; the other is that the diamond single crystal will maintain a certain strength when it is made into a tool at high temperature. Through the friability test, it was confirmed that the PDA600S has almost the same strength properties as PDA665 at room temperature and high temperature.

(III) Oxidation resistance For ceramic bond diamond products that require exposure to air and experience high temperatures, oxidation resistance is one of the important indicators for evaluating diamond single crystals. Thermogravimetric analysis in a static air environment confirms that the PDA600S has slightly higher oxidation resistance than the PDA665, so in tool manufacturing above 650 degrees Celsius, the PDA600S will exhibit lower thermal weight loss than natural diamond.

(4) The purity of the surface chemical diamond surface is an important factor affecting the quality of diamond plating. The surface impurities of PDA600S are strictly controlled, and the impurity content can reach the level of natural diamond.

Through strict production quality control, Element Six can provide PDA600S products with consistently stable quality control. The product offered by Element Six currently has a particle size between 80/100 and 500/600.
