Russia has developed a new magnesium surface treatment process

Moscow State University has developed a magnesium coating process. It is reported that the hardness of the coating is good, and the moisture resistance of magnesium treated by the new process is greatly improved. Due to the porosity, it is advantageous for the surface coating. The process is likely to find wider application in the mechanical, automotive and aerospace industries. Since magnesium is chemically active and easily corroded, forming a protective film on the surface of magnesium is an effective method for improving corrosion resistance, but it has an influence on the environment and is restricted. This new process overcomes these problems. The process is simple, the solution used does not contain harmful substances such as chromium and ammonia, and the washed liquid is as clean as the water discharged from the dishwasher.
