Barat Carbide changed its name and ambition to consolidate its leading position in the ultra-hard industry

Frankfurt, Germany, June 26, 2008 - Barat Carbide GmbH has been renamed Element Six Hard Materials. The company joined Element Six in the second half of 2007 and is now an important business area for Element Six. The name change reflects Element Six's ambition to strengthen its leadership in materials technology, especially in the field of super materials such as tungsten carbide, synthetic diamond and cubic boron nitride.

As an executive director, Karl-Georg Hildebrand is leading the business unit to the Element Six group. “As Hard Materials, we maintain a strong position in the mining and construction markets with our predominantly tungsten carbide-based products.” Karl-Georg Hildebrand points out: “Being part of Element Six means we can benefit from the company's overall synergy. For our customers, this means we can combine our strengths and technology with expertise in other business areas. This makes us a new force in the field of materials technology."
