China develops and develops large-scale cluster wind power active intelligence control system

Aiming at the dilemma of high and low wind power and stable voltage requirements for power grid transmission, China has developed a "large-scale cluster wind power active intelligent control system", which has been used at the Jiuquan wind power base, filling the gap in China's wind power access technology.

The Gansu Provincial Electric Power Company undertook the development and research of the “large-scale cluster wind power active intelligent control system” project of the State Grid Corporation of China, and combined with the practical technical difficulties faced by China during the construction of the first 10 million kilowatt-class wind power base Jiuquan wind power base. And proceed.

“China's wind energy-rich regions are basically located in the vast northern and western regions, where the electricity load is small and the power grid is weak,” said Zhou Fengqi, a professor at the National Development and Reform Commission’s Institute of Energy. "This determines that China's wind power cannot be developed in accordance with the European model of 'distribution on the Internet and local consumption', and can only be a model of 'large-scale high-concentration-high voltage-distance transmission'. The characteristics of intermittent wind power generation are The ability to absorb capacity poses a challenge. In order to maintain the stable operation of the power grid, it is imperative to conduct research on technology and scheduling management.”

"For the contradiction between large-scale cluster wind power transmission and safe operation of power grids, we first proposed two large-scale cluster wind power output and output tracking two control strategies, and developed a large-scale cluster wind power active intelligent control system." Gansu Province Electric Power Company Dispatch Center Total Engineer Yao Xu said. “The system has realized the real-time assessment of the power grid's ability to accept wind power for the first time, and then determined the maximum power output of the wind power based on the evaluation results. It assigned and displayed the power generation plan of each wind farm, and achieved wind power intelligent dispatch, active intelligent control, and coordination of wind and fire bundles. control."

The reporter learned that at present, nine wind farms and two thermal power plants in China's first 10 million kilowatt-class wind power base have been connected to this system and formally put into operation to realize the interactive closed-loop control of cluster wind power and power grids. The commissioning of the project not only ensures the safety and stable operation of the power grid, but also guarantees the maximum and optimum transmission of wind power.

China is currently the fastest growing country in the world for wind power. In 2009, China’s wind power installed capacity maintained the highest growth rate in the world, and cumulative wind power installed capacity reached 26.01 million kilowatts, achieving 100% growth for four consecutive years. By the end of 2010, China’s wind power installed capacity had exceeded 35 million kilowatts.

The reporter learned that although China's installed capacity has grown rapidly, it has not been able to achieve grid-connected power generation. "The main reason is that it is difficult to achieve large-scale transport," said Wang Ningyi, director of the Wind Power Technology Center of Gansu Electric Power Company.

The large-scale cluster wind power active intelligence control system has initially provided technical support for China to solve the wind power access problem and has filled domestic gaps. At the appraisal meeting organized by the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering at the end of last year, nine experts from the Institute of New Energy Research of the China Electric Power Research Institute, such as Dai Huizhu, spoke highly of the results. According to the appraisal, the system is the first of its kind, and its research results have filled the domestic gap. At the same time, large-scale cluster wind power active control technology breakthroughs have provided valuable experience for comprehensively overcoming the “large-scale development, centralized grid-connected, long-distance transmission” model of China's new energy, and addressing new energy access and key technical issues.
